Is it normal christianity makes me super depressed

Recently I had a demon haunt my room. We got rid of it. It made me believe heaven, hell and ghosts are real. So I stopped doing the one thing which keeps me somewhat happy. I watch and read a lot of gay Romance but remain totally abstinent. I know god despises gay's and that sort of stuff but if I don't keep praying the demon might come back. So either I behave and keep the demon away or live with the demon and not sleep till I die from lack of sleep.

    I used to be a Christian. I still respect religion and all but I'm an atheist. I don't like the ideas the people spread that religion is selective and that only straight people who never sin get good things. Also I don't like how sexist some religions are (feminist in the making/mostly just about the amount in Christian Bible since I know it well) and how "God" is usually referred to as a He....like why? Also, why can't I say "I pray to my God, because She cares about us all." without getting hate???
