I had a friend/roommate who had been dating a guy for years and then he moved about an hour away for work. they remained a couple long distance and saw each other on weekends. My friend was a very sexual person and asked to have an open relationship to satisfy her sexual needs while he's away. they both agreed to it, and it was a MESS.
everyone is different but imo open relationships are hard on everyone, whether they can admit that or not.
