Some people say horrible things when they are angry, it's almost like they cant help it. I could be wrong here but I don't think gender is relevant, I've seen this in both sexes.
I take it as a sign of low intelligence and lack of self control, like a small child or a mentally disabled person. I expect normal adults to have self control. I've been married for years and my husband and I have never said horrible insults like that to each other. Sure we've shouted, sworn, gotten very heated, but there's never been name calling or nasty below the belt digs. Our lives are better for it.
