Is it normal - do you ever feel that you are destined for something grand?

Do you ever feel that you are destined for something grand, something mysterious

As if the future is filled with hope, and even the air you breathe right now seems endless and with bitter anxiousness of what is to come

You think about words from the wise, dictators and teachers, old folks who have 'experienced life', whose words are supposed to mean something

Conjurers of your future, they believe you, they invest in you, and deep down you are afraid to let them down, to let yourself down

Maybe you wont be the person you achieve to be, seek out to be, but you also have this strong sense of who you will be or who you really are inside

Only if people can see this, only if people believe in this as much as you believe deep inside

You imagine yourself soaring above the skies on top of the highest skyscraper, doing the unimaginable and unattainable, a modern nomad, a conquerer of foreign futuristic lands and goals

And things might not go like you plan exactly but that flick of fire will never go out in you

Dont try so hard to tarnish your yearning desires and youthful purpose
Dont let go of your heart, that hope that you've always possessed

To lose your purpose and dream would be the ultimate suicide, then you would just become an empty soul lingering upon the blank plains

So make it worthwhile for yourself,
every sngle day of your life, wake up with hope with that beaming sun in your eyes and be the amazement you dream out to
be

  • I've set some goals in my life and the most important goal for me is to change the world in a good way. I'm studying at the most prestigious business university in the Netherlands and I'm absolutely going to give the best I can to make the world a better place.

  • Ever feel like your destined for mediocrity?

  • Wow that was a great post

  • Not destined, but have the potential for. I don't believe in destinies, but I have the potential to achieve my goals, more so than most.

Also, why listen to the words of dictators as inspiration? That is what you said, I'm sure. I know that, in their own special way, they have achieved their dreams, but they are far from people to aspire to.

  • There is no such thing as destiny or fate. You make your own way in the world. Own your life.

  • Well, if you consider 'Hell' grand, then I suppose so.

  • I really think I am. I just got my bachelor's in microbiology and looking into grad schools. My grandfather helped develop the measles vaccine and I would like to follow in his footsteps. =)

    • I'm currently doing advanced medical microbiology on my masters degree, it's interesting but I wouldn't want to do it as a job.

      • Why are you doing it then?

        • It's just good to have all the microbiology techniques under my belt, I do a lot of other stuff aswell.

          • I was a microbiologist for 6 years. It consumes your life. I missed out on a lot of my early 20's working 10 or 11 hour days and most weekend days. It also helped damage my mental health working so much. Stay away.

  • No, I don't have that 'wide-eyed' view of the world.

I'm bored 60% of the time and on the internet or sleeping for the other 40%, so no.

  • You've watched too many movies or listened to one too many of your grandma's speeches. The human race is nothing but a speck in time.

    • Your right, humans have been around for about 200,000 years while the earth is about 4,500,000,000 years old. We probably won't be around for another 1,000 let alone 200,000.
