Iin? 20 and still a virgin with no action in sight

I am a guy and I spent my teenage in years in a boys' Boarding School and now I'm stuck in a South Indian Engineering College. I have never had an actual girlfriend and I don't see it happening any time soon. At least not for four years till I graduate and shift somewhere else. I've never had sex ever and that's been depressing me now. I am a nice guy and I'm the kind of man who's capable of meaningful intelligent conversation too but it seems like it doesn't matter.

Is It Normal?

  • South India used to be a euphemism for Ceylon; is it still so?
One would think that India, with the Kamasutra and all would be a pretty sexual liberated country. I'm surprised that you can't find a girl friend. I have no first hand knowledge of the country and I guess I have some pretty unrealistic assumptions.

    • It's interesting to see such painfully wrong notions! Rural India is a place where couples literally get beaten up for being together on Valentine's Day
The educated urban India where I belong is not like that. You can compare my community of friends with any regular American group of friends.
However, finding a girlfriend is impossible! Believe me, South Indian girls aren't very attractive but it's still okay because for me nothing makes a woman more attractive than a good taste in movies and music. Anyhow, here we have 1 girl for 50 boys! Things aren't looking good. I can laugh about it but honestly, it makes me really sad.

  • Maybe it's just me, but gender segregated schools seem like an antiquated and damaging practice. What benefit could come from prolonged separation from half of the human population?

I know it's off topic but figured I'd throw it in as it's somewhat related.

Out of curiosity, do you think the all boys school was a good experience, OP?

    • Well, absolutely! My Boarding School journey was the best thing that ever happened to me. You see... I was the kind of guy who was so shy that I wouldn't even ask the teacher to visit the washroom. Joining Welham (which is one of the most celebrated and elite educational institutes of the country) changed that drastically!
But yes, you are right too. You are cut off.
Actually what I have seen and experienced is that boys in such schools are more comfortable with their feminine sides and they tend to value and appreciate women better too
