That's funny, because my mom is originally from Michigan and spent some time in New York during her youth, and she has unreal levels of patience, kindness and gentleness that would put any Southern Belle to shame.
At one point when I was a kid, I actually believed that my mom was an angel on Earth who had chosen to take human form in order to have children.
And I'm sorry if I'm sounding a bit defensive, it's probably because I was born and raised in the North and have lived in the same state my entire life. It's kind of an odd state though, because even though we're in the North, we're best known for 4 things that are usually associated with hillbillies:
- Huntin'
- Fishin'
- Poor fashion choices (even our local news team looks like they got their clothes at a thrift store)
And...
- Racism... Unfortunately.
