Ii it normal for your face to hurt when you smile?

For some reason, any time I smile my face hurts. Surely this isn't normal or else people wouldn't be doing near as much if it as they do. (Which, I might add, they have no business doing. Stupid happy people~)So this isn't so much a question of if this is normal, but rather, how non-normal it is. I can't be the only, that would be silly.

Also, furthermore, does any one have any idea why?

Smiling uses more muscles in your face to do than it does to frown...maybe you convinced yourself somehow that it hurts to do so because it takes more work :) Smiling is a very primal response...what happens when someone makes you laugh?? You can't help but smile! Monkeys do it and newborns often smile even before knowing why they do it. If it is of any use, frowning causes wrinkles so if you are not going to smile at least don't frown!

Well it sounds to me that it doesn't really hurt you to smile. Rather - you are so against smiling that you have come up with an excuse not to and have convinced yourself it's true...
