Flirt with them, talk with them, do stuff, nothing too sexual, and be yourself with them, and if you think they like you back, ask about the relationship, if you're a bit too shy, make up something like:
"[Someone] asked if I'm seeing you today/dating you, since we spend so much time together/always talking, I wasn't sure how to reply....."
if you're shy then go for this option, at least you'll know where you stand with the person. Try and be face to face, so you can tell if they're lying/joking, or trying not to hurt your feelings, etc... :) x
