The internal battery in mine died after i played it pretty much daily for 2 or 3 years. I was so close to getting all 250 or whatever it was. I pretended the pokemon were my pets.
Yea, I think I had gotten bored of it by then and let it sit for a long while which is more likely when the battery died. I also have gold and yellow, and same happened to those cartridges as well (no more save files). You feeling any better since the other post btw?
If you were a pokemon, which one would you be?

Silver was so addictive I destroyed my cartridge to stop myself playing it.
