My sister is deaf and I know some sign language, so I'll go with that.

I have been losing my vision for almost 5 years now. I would much rather lose hearing. With vision loss, there's no "sign language" for visually impared, legally blind, etc. Losing hearing has impact on social or family life, sure. Vision loss I can even get a job at Wal-Mart as a greeter. The impact on loss of independence is such an extreme difference. I have pretty much give in to the fact that when I use the bathroom in the morning, or anytime, it's much easier for me as a guy to just sit down instead of making attempts at hitting the mark. I miss and it's all over the floor or wherever. I try to find something in the refrigerator. It's not there. Oh wait there it is, the light bulb was to bright, to dark, to whatever. Without vision we are lost. I'm not one to ask someone for help, for drive me here, or there, etc. I can no longer use my computer. I do all stuff on phone or tablet. It's really hard to use a laptop when you have to be closer than 4" away from screen to read it.

    Fair enough.

    I'd rather be blind.

A world without music to my ears would be deafening.

There are none so blind they cannot see.

I agree that having not been born that way, losing your sight would be more difficult to adjust to than losing your hearing.

Deaf. The world is beautiful. Also I like to read and I rather not learn braille. As for sign language I'll probably just text to speech.

Deaf, because lack of sight is far harder to deal with than lack of hearing. Also, I know some asl already, so that would make it easier.
