Happened to me with a past gf. I told her I found out she was lying and she continued to lie about it until I presented hard evidence. If she had fessed up right away and seemed genuinely sorry about the lying, I would probably still be with her. But she didn't and she's history.
It depends on the lie. I called out a friend who lied to me and they apologized. It was a trivial lie about a personal detail and I overreacted. We are still friends. And better friends because of it.
It really depends on how significant the lie was, if this was there only lie, and if they were truly sorry.
If they frequently lied and didn't seem to try change their ways, then they're not a person you should associate with.

Telling the truth takes courage. Sometimes lies happen, one can be caught offguard and lie as a knee jerk reaction, so I can understand that. But like someone said, there's still an opportunity to redeem yourself, by admitting that lie. And that takes courage too and is still respectable. I can accommodate and tolerate a lot of negative personality traits but insincerity is one where I draw the line, and it can irreversibly damage a connection for me.
Liars are human garbage to me so I dump them like the steaming piles they are.
I don't think lying is ever a good thing, but it can be necessary in complicated situations. It wouldn't bother me too much as long as it doesn't affect me in any way. However, it would lead me to believe that I should re-evaluate the character of this person.

If you lie to me I will not understand and we most likely won't be any more than passing acquaintances.
