I work for two families - one has both parents that are doctors, the other one parent is a doctor.
They work their arses off. One of them is in her last year of specialist training, and she is out of the house before I get there at 7am, and not home by the time I finish work around 7/8pm. She's also on call every 4th night, and every 3rd weekend. Her 'half day off' each week means she usually gets home by 6. That doesn't sound like a half day to me.
Not to mention all the blood and other bodily fluids. No way.
I have a friend working on his doctorate in physics. He jokes and says he wants everyone to call him "doctor" when he's done. Although, when he says this, I hear it as "dok-tor."
I don't think I'd mind being a medical doctor. But I hate western medicine so I won't be pursuing that in any traditional sense.
Hah I didn't even think of doctorate doctors, I just assumed medical doctor :)
Incidentally, though, the husband of the doctor I mentioned in my comment, who is also a specialising doctor, is currently doing his PhD. I guess that makes him a double doctor :/
If you could, would you be a doctor?
