If you could start a country from scratch, what would it be like?

Most humans would be kept in an aviary with fingers clipped whilst the birds cackled and shat upon them from the outside.

An island nation with just me, my castle by the sea, and cats... lots of cats!

My country is gonna be roughly Mongolia-sized and, ideally, landlocked. It'll be a diverse landscape, with untamed dense forests, high mountains, deserts, etc and it's all gonna be completely uninhabited save for one city in the dead center in which the entire country's population is forced to live.

This one city will be ruled like a psychotic dictatorship. The people will be beaten, food will be kept minimal, and every conceivable human right will be infringed on. It will differ from North Korea in only one aspect: the people will always have access to foreign television. They will always be made aware of how much worse their situation is compared to others, and this will breed a stronger desire to leave.

On the third Sunday of every fourth month, 107 citizens will be chosen from amongst volunteers to leave the city. These 107 people will enter the country's wilderness, and they'll be given a one day head start after which the military will begin hunting them. If they can successfully elude their pursuers and make it to the border, then they have earned the right to emigrate. The ones that don't make it will have their deaths televised.

I did this for a school project. The assignment was to build a society. Took me three days and I made a full scale model of it. It was pretty great. Basically the school system was progressive and taught you a little more each year to build students. Like PE would be kindergarten 10 push ups, next year 20, next year 30 sort of like that. Classes started for first two years as mainly math and English and than sprinkled in history and those sort of classes after third grade. After third year youd be tested for grade level A,B, C, D and what your best subjects where. The subjects where categorized by test based on skill, interest and obtained ability. After which you were given an option for two subjects a major and minor. Kids where offered leadership academy after age 11 and if they passed the test sent to a school for major leadership positions in the community like example politics, teachers, public speaking. The prison system also had an A, B, C, D crime system. All A crimes would be executed. Like Rapist, childmolestors, serial killers. Anything that fell to D would have no prison time just be sent to rehabilitation centers like having crack for example. B and C crimes would stay in the prison/jail for a sentence of months to years depending on crime and than be released. B an C would be like Manslaughter, or grand-theft auto. There is a Ball hall in the middle of the city which throws events every week for all the town's people to attend. Also all the streets are interconnected so you can bike everywhere and don't need cars. When kids graduate HS they would have already obtained the certificates and knowledge to start in the work place. So they can either start work, go to a trade school or go to. University which would be needed for higher end jobs like Doctors that require several years of schooling. Military would be the same but has a special unit to house orphans and foster children. Military would be the same as now and Hospitals would have the same system as they do now. All farms would be local and open range. Any food not sold at local markets would be donated to needy family's or the orphan children. Any vegetables not used would be turned into compost and sent to the farmers free of charge to turn use as manerure. There would be a district outside the city where you went to do things like smoke, drink and gamble or purchase the brothal services or a hooker. It would have a single road and be a mile outside of a city and be a little sin city. Incest and beastiality would be illegal and strongly discouraged. Any engaging in such acts would be banished. Animal testing would be outlawed and switched to lab cell tests and any other needed tests would be done on prisoners offered early freedom of they become live ginuie pigs. Anyone who stole from a person and could not pay them back would become endentured service that person for a max number of months based on how much money the person lost.

A cheese country. Every public holiday related to a cheese tradition. Restaurants encouraged to serve cheese-based dishes. Yellow, orange, red, blue and white used on all official government buildings. Housing plots doubled to allow every family to own at least 1 cow. Cheese stations in public areas to allow the destitute to enjoy the divine taste of cheese.

Heavily influenced by communism. Freedom of religion however highly discouraged with no aid of any kind from the government. High emphasis on education. Plentiful libraries. Mandatory military service. Labor camp. You break the law you ain't getting an easy life sitting behind bars. Community service bitch. Free medical, covered by taxes for majority. Basicslly just adopt the uk policy on this matter. Strict regulations on animal care and products. Concicted Animal abusers will suffer a horrible fate.

Emphasis on water conservation. My goal would be to have the cleanest best water in the world. Highly regulated food industry. Again much like the uk go for healthy foods. Gun freedoms.

Location location location!

If you are a small country you can probably get by with a couple dedicated product economy and the rest being imported in depending on if your country has a water way. There are only three countries in the entire world that are completely land locked.

Neighbors are another thing you got to contend with you want countries nearby that are happy with your exsistance but wouldnt want to take over your land.

Yeah I rather just have a good cut of land in a country that no one in their right minds would want to invade. Taxes suck but it's better than starting from scratch somewhere else.

It would be egalitarian.

Pretty much like America aside from drug laws. Drugs shouldn't be legal but you shouldnt get a felony for a line of coke. That one felony keeps you from voting, owning guns, and getting a good job. Also I'd give states more rights and shrink the federal government. Make less laws. Everyone supports new laws that make sense but next thing you know everything will be illegal. God forbid you eat a cheeseburger while driving.
