I have a pretty poor sense of taste/smell, so I guess I’d heighten it to normal levels if I had to, not to superhuman or even strong/above average. But, I’d rather keep things the way they are, suddenly being given a boost seems like it’d be jarring and overstimulating.
Heightened senses have downsides I image. Hypersensitivity to environmental input for example, it kinda sucks. I’m autistic and already visual and auditory stimuli like flashing or bright lights and too many noises occurring at once are just... ugh I can’t describe it properly, it’s awful. Like being attacked outside and in, fingers tearing behind your face trying to escape, you concurrently feel exhausted and energized to the point of exploding. Occasionally I feel physically sick with nausea, fever, or a headache from it.
If you could have one heightened sense, what would it be?
