How would you know if it's even real, what it even looks like if it is real, and when you could grab it? You have to know an exact date to go back to to get your object....That's a bad gamble.

It's a good question, but with tough conditions :D
There's rumours of lost ancient Buddhist scrolls. I'd need to do more research to find the right temple and century, but that'd be my choice as I value lost human knowledge higher than anything material.
If you could go back in time and grab one item...
