Well they asked if I had a specific disorder. Than I said no and they asked "What do you have than"? and so I asked them "Do I seem like I have something"? and they said "I wouldn't know". I been asked if I had a disorder by people before. This is usually asked by friends.
The only thing that I can recall people asking/saying in this vein was: "Is everything all right?", "Has something been going on with you?", "It's okay. You can trust me,", "If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." This was in regards to abuse concerns from friends, camp counselors and a few doctors.
Except for only two times, I never would display my emotional issues when in public. So, I am sure, that practically no one even knew of my neuroses. On those two occasions, I lost my cool with someone. Raised my voice a few decibels higher and a lot of the people in the group completely turned against me. I still haven't been able to figure out their reaction and neither has anyone else that I have told.
They never asked if I had any conditions. They basically accused me of being someone that I wasn't and be a liar who was able to fool them for so long. O_O
My mom considers anyone she finds cruel or insensitive a genuine sociopath. A girl in high school asked if I was bipolar when I told her my behavior tends to change depending on the people I merge with. Another asked if I had autism or aspergers when I got distracted by a noise outside.
Don’t let people without degrees who probably haven’t even opened, let alone laid eyes on, a DSM manual diagnosis you with disorders they barely understand. Don’t even let the criteria of a DSM lead you to self diagnose yourself. We’re all a little crazy.
