For me, it meant that I went from being someone's property to becoming a person. Because that's technically what children are, someone else decides who they are and what they do and what they can own, say or where they can go.
But when I turned 18, I became my own person. Whether or not I obeyed my parents, whether or not I left and never came back, was my decision, and the only power that they had over me? Money? I could go out and make for myself. So I did.
So I left. It feels great to be able to be my own advocate.
if I was turning 18 soon..what would I be looking forward too?
