If everyone had two children, would earth still be overpopulated?

Let's say that human existance would rewind all the way back to the beginning and we all only had 2 children max. Fast forward it to today. Would overpopulation exist if all humans have a inate desire for only 2 kids and never had more than 2? Why/Why Not?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I clicked yes but meant no because there wouldn't be nearly as many people as there are today.

  • The earth would not be overpopulated due to the lack of young deaths.

  • 2 children or 1 per person, means static population growth. Add wars, which might have been less necessary as fewer people means less need for territorial expansion, and you'd actually see a decline in the population.
As time has progressed, people are living longer so there would still be a population increase, but most likely a more manageable one.
Most likely, it would be a better and healthier world today if what you are suggesting had been.
See, if there was a god, HE would have made humans infertile after 2 children and all might have been right with the world.
