What ? Abusers can be VERY secretive and their acquaintance could never believe they are capable of doing such things. They act like that when they are in a position of power as you say, because they can get away with it. Usually people turn bad when they are in charge because they feel they can, they feel superior. Just like the OP is saying, hes bullying children !
People see the abuser in a different light because he makes sure they remain in ignorance !
