I work at a beer warehouse and my co-worker's a drunk

I'm doing a warehouse job over the summer between school and this dude who's like in his early 30s is a chronic alcoholic... he drove a forklift through a wall smashing a palette of beer on the other side and tried to blame me. He also made a huge fort out of palettes of beer to take naps in. There's a ditch out back where he throws all the empty bottles. Also he was gone for a couple of weeks cause he went to prison. Are warehouse jobs really so undesirable that they're willing to hire drunks and felons?

Sounds like an episode of family guy. The one were he drove s forklift through the wall. I've been a forklift operator still have my certification slip probably expired but still. To drive one through a wall would take effort. Frankly I doubt beilive you

  • Don't act to entitled bud, there is a reason you can only work in a warehouse. I mean why not get a cozy job in a wealthy companies reception?... Exactly!

Everyone needs jobs man, even drinkers and prison birds. These factory type jobs do not require a trade or much education, so you will get people applying whom otherwise wouldn't have qualifications to work anywhere else. If they are shit workers, they will get fired soon enough.

Exactly, the easier the job is to get, the more sketchy and fucked up people are. Trust me, I worked at a small pizza place in high school and there was a waitress who had sex for money, guys who smoking weed and vaped WHILE they made food, and I was regualry asked to drive drunk chums home on my way home myself, among other things.

Having to work with someone like that is an OH&S issue: talk to your union and/or your employer

Don't judge, you'll probably be an alcoholic by the time you're in your early 30s too. The fact that discrimination against the intoxicated is legal is disgusting.

this all sounds funny as hell, but probably not that fun to work with every day. a warehouse job is not a very skilled one, and not many desire to be a warehouse worker, so often companies will just take whatever they can get.
