I wonder what british 'valley girls' sound like

is it normal to wonder what a british 'valley girl' accent sounds like? i'm american, and i know what our version of valley girl is, but how do brit valley girls talk, and has any other non brit wondered the same thing as well? what about valley girls all over the world...doesn't every country have its version of a 'valley girl'?

Is It Normal?

  • Haha, reading this made me wanna watch Tiny Toon Adventures again just because Shirley the Loon's valley girl accent is funny. Anyway, just take a valley girl, give her a british accent, change the american expressions to british expressions, and viola! British valley girl!

  • It has to be one of the most annoying dialects of the English language ever! And it has morphed into an even more condescending tone of voice: just watch shows like The Hills or The City on MTV - those girls talk like a bunch of total cunts. I've seen some British equivalents of those shows and those kids have the same grating tone, but with an English accent. It's truly bizarre.

  • Ooooh, we in Australia just call them dumb bimbos, or barbies, or depending on the clique and (this is for girls of european heritage) a Maria! Lol

    • amili, an american valley girl might say, with an accent i can't quite convey in typing: "like...oh my gawd. did you see what jen was wearing today? she looked like a total slut. i think your dad would totally sleep with her if he saw her wearing that." that's not a great example, but valley girl depends heavily upon usage of tone, much sarcasm, and the usage of words such as 'like', 'gawd' (god), 'totally', 'whatever', etc...or at least that was the way it was when i was in high school, and the valley girls (now valley women) that i knew back then still talk like this even though they're now almost 30 years old...i don't know what teenage valley girls are like now...maybe more profanity with the same tones and sarcasm...i dunno...valley girls usually are attractive or aspire to be attractive in a main stream kind of way...though not all attractive women are valley girls...what they talk about and the way they talk about it seperates valley girls from other attractive women...

    • another way to see a parody (and example) of american valley girl is to go to youtube and type 'kelly shoes', and watch that to see a totally inflated stereotype of a valley girl. it's kind of a music video.
