What I wrote was in a casual tone, and it's not exactly far fetched, if not counter intuitive, to assess that she wanted to be male to pass her last name down by current social standards, id est the child gets the father's last name

If she wanted kids with a woman, it would become an open ended discussion with that woman about how the both of them would name their child, which by the way they could have with each other genetically by using sperm cells found in bone marrow

Being a man would allow her to have natural conception with social standards allowing her last name automatically
