I understand where you're coming from, OP. I actually have a rather common Welsh surname, and although I've been married, and divorced twice I have never taken anyone else's last name. I love my last name, and have never had any desire to change it for anyone. I'm too old to have children now, but if my younger sister had a son, or two, gave them our Welsh surname, and raised them as Roman Catholics I'd probably be thrilled, and a part of me would even want to bust my ass to help raise them! I've never loved any last name more than my own!
I wish I was a boy so I could pass on my last name
