I washed my cat's paws with human shampoo

My cat finally came home at 3 am but he had very dirty paws. Like oil like dirty, so I had to wash him because I found that he wouldn't be able to clean it himself and
it might stick. Anyways-

I used human shampoo to clean his paws as I didn't have anything else and it wouldn't go away.

I'm afraid it's dangerous for him and I'm also afraid that I didn't wash the shampoo away properly and that he is licking it up now.

Your thoughts please. :s

If you rinsed kitty well then everything shot be fine. If I were you I would take the time to buy some good cat shampoo.☺

The worst that could happen from ingesting soap is a terrible case.of the runs.

Monitor their poop and if it's ok your cat is fine.

    Should be no issue.
Once or twice a year I bathe my cat.
I use a little regular shampoo.
I'm lucky my cat is fine with water.
For cats that aren't you have to be patient, talk nice, keep them warm.

How did you shampoo the cat's paws without him resisting and scratching you? I just know this from when I used to try giving my cat a bath, washing his paws was the hardest part, he hated getting wet and soapy enough, but hated it even more when I tried grabbing his paws. I've noticed cats don't like you trying to grab their paws anytime
