That might be the depression. But it's rare to have only 1 mental disorder, there are usually several that are there, just one happens to dominate. You should tell your psychiatrist. He/ she is there to help you. I have depression and I couldn't imagine killing someone only because I have family and friends that I love and couldn't imagine them getting killed by someone. So why would I want to inflict that pain on others and their family. If I were to kill anyone it would be myself before someone else. (Not saying I'm going to, just putting a comparison out there) but who knows. I know having depression can bring on lots of anger and confusion so it just might be that. But for sure tell someone.
