  • I have been diagnosed with a good chunk of mental disorders throughout my life, and trust me, there's nothing "special" about it. Basically, you never feel like you have control over your own life. You're bound and restricted by your symptoms, your medications, and your level of functioning (which, unless you get something very very mild, won't be nearly on par with someone who doesn't suffer from mental illnesses). You often struggle with insomnia which is never fun, and whenever there is something physically wrong with you, people are likely to brush it off as being "all in your head" even when deep down you know it's not.

    And those are really just blanket statements. Depending on the type of disorder you have, individual symptoms will vary wildly.
