I want to build a castle as a dreamhome

By dreamhome I mean its all in my head and budget notes now, but sometime in the future I have committed myself to make it a reality.
I have done a lot of research into the land I most likely will build on the cost of material man power. The budget is set up and a soft time frame has been set.

Now am I being too ambitious for my own sanity?

Normal but needs a moat. Full of crocodilians. And a draw bridge.

  • How ambitious you're being depends on your financial reality.

    • A conservative estimate for the full construction is going to land between 600k-950k. Which is optimal since this is going to be an endgame house, that I will want to be buried on the land.

      • I meant more with regards to how much you're earning.

        • Doesn't really matter, even someone with bum pay and good planning could work up enough capital to make it happen. My pay over the next few decades may increase and decrease such as the complexity of the plan to build.

          • Someone on bum pay will take many more years to achieve the dream. With a lot of compromises. So it kinda does matter.

            • I'm currently doing well as a student in a stem field. Money is not going to be a concern.

    • Depends on what part, for the solid walls that do not need insulation, cinderblocks make up the foundation for the slipform stone outside. For walls that need insulation the walls would be thicker and have a slot on the top portion of the wall to insert insulation. The top would then be sealed off by a plastic liner with some loose stones. The sides would be the same composition as the solid walls just with the internal portion being insulated.

Mostly stone for the external walls. wood for the internal walls.

The reason for the top slot for the insulation would be that I could replace the insulation without tearing half the wall down to replace it.

      • And by stone I mean what ever would be the cheapest to buy in bulk in the area.
