I know about being sheltered and looking back on it I wish I wasn't so sheltered. People need to be exposed to life. The problem with being sheltered is it wont last forever. Eventually your ass is going to be dropped on the road and you aren't going to know what to do, which means you're probably not going to survive very long on your own.
On the flip side it's always good to have friends and family that you can lean on and support you when you need it. There is a balance that you need to find. A balance between how much you depend on other people and how much you depend on your self. My advise is to ask the people that you know to help you to develop the skills that you need to operate on your own in life. That way you don't become a burden to the ones you love, be able to operate independently, and still have people that you can fall back on in case of extreme emergency.
If you don't, and continue being a needy wuss you will eventually piss off every one around you and the ones you love may just end cutting you off from their help for your own good.
