Seriously, that's not a job that anyone - male or female - should ever aspire to do. You think that the garbage men you see wanted to be garbage men when they were kids? No way, this is what they do as a last resort, because they can't find any other job. The people in your life telling you to consider a different career are doing it because they care about you. Why would you actually want to be miserable day in and day out and get paid peanuts? And I'm not saying any of this because you're female, I would say the same exact thing to a male. Have bigger and better dreams and give yourself the respect you deserve. Even as something like a part time job or a job that you just want to try out before going to school, there are so many better options to pursue, maybe something that might make you more interested in doing well in school so you can find what you enjoy and want to focus on in the long run.
You sound just like everybody else! Lots of kids are fascinated by garbage trucks and trash men. The job pays quite well, too. I wouldn't be miserable because I enjoy manual labor and I've always taken the "dirty jobs" when it comes to chores and volunteering. I like working outdoors and in industrial settings. I enjoy fast-paced work where I get in, do my job and go on. I can't tolerate sedentary or slow work. I don't want a job where I am constantly answering to bosses or being micromanaged and I don't want to deal with the public (the average consumer) directly too much. I like the whole sanitation industry and I have a very inventive mind and see myself moving up in the field one way or another.
I have a business idea for Porta Potties too but I don't dare mention that to anyone after this!
