I feel the same way about my grandmother sometimes. She's in her late 80's, has suffered multiple hip fractures, surgeries, getting tumours on her face, suffering strokes, losing her independence...she used to live on her own, she got a lot of exercise till she was almost immobile, she suffers from dementia...I actually did her care taking for several months, and it was so difficult for me, watching her mind go, watching her lose her mobility, and the humiliation involved with losing her ability to go to the bathroom and bathe herself, and having to help with that. At this point, it looks like she might be in the hospital or a nursing home permanently, which is sad, because she still has some of her mental faculties, and a lot of the people she has to interact with at meals are absolute vegetables. At this point, she is wheelchair bound.
So yes, sometimes I do wish that she would pass, and that her suffering would end. At the same time, I have a very large extended family. I see how happy she is seeing all of her children, and being there for the birth of her first grandchild. It's tough to say what the best thing is, but whatever happens will happen...in the mean time, I plan to see her as much as I can.
I want my great grandmother to die (please read)
