  • I agree for the most part. Dogs can't recognize their own reflections though.

    • If you tell the dog look in the mirror and that it looks nothing like a human, the tone of your voice and your body language a dog will know it's not a human and will stop thinking it is.

      • Dog's simply think their reflection is another dog behind glass or something. The same as cats. They either try to play, fight, or nervously stare until they come to know mirrors as glass barriers that never open and so can be ignored.

        Imagine a dog can't stand a toy snake. A dog staring at its reflection won't properly react to you sneaking up behind it with the snake obviously about to throw it on the dog. Many studies have been done to confirm this. In fact, very few animals are capable of recognizing their reflection for what it is, only the very utmost intelligent ones.

        Also dogs never think they look like humans. They know they're dogs and even on rare occasions think humans are funny looking alpha dogs, although they usually know a human for a human.
