I've had thoughts about killing my dog

Not something I want to do, but I think about it everyday... I could easily kill him and no one would care. I'd just bury him and people would ask 'what happened to your dog' and I'd just tell them he ran away.

I'd rather die than ever harm my cat, he's my bestfriend.

You don't say whether you're enjoying these thoughts or not. you have said it's not something you want to do but that you think about. Are you saying it's some kind of torture that you can't help thinking about it? Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you will or should. There are lots of things you could do which would be very wrong but which no one would prevent you from doing. Putting those things into reality might be very traumatic and an extremely bad idea.

Back when I had a cat I would have similar thoughts, always made me feel disgusting. That's back when I was into scat so I didnt feel that way easily. I could never harm an animal like that. If you take an animals life it better be for sustenance and the pelt. No wasting the resource.

If the dog is annoying as fuck, then the thoughts are understandable, but a more positive response would be to either adjust your expectations, figure out how to make him behave in a way you find easier to live with, or find another home for him.

If you like the dog but still have these random thoughts, then that doesn't necessarily mean you're a borderline psychopath. Everyone has an evil side. It's the remnants of the nasty, cruel, self-centred barbarian that we all were when we were very young and before we learned how to behave in socially acceptable ways.

We're all allowed to think whatever the hell we want in the privacy of our heads. The important thing is not whether we can control those thoughts, but whether we act on them in the real world.

Call of the void, I believe it's called. If you don't want to actually go through with these thoughts and they don't consistently bug you, I wouldn't worry over it.

That's fucked. If you're serious, rehome him ASAP. Just take it to a shelter.

Probably anxiety or a panic attack. I would seek therapy.

    Thinking is one thing.
    Acting is another.
Ive had thoughts that would get me a death penalty in any court.
The better question is why are you thinking this?
    Thats what you should ask.

Perhaps you might have a very bad case of intrusive thoughts.

I have lots of intrusive thoughts too, and I hate them. I would never ever turn those ugly thoughts into reality.

Thank goodness the intrusive thoughts are just thoughts and they're not making me turn those thoughts into reality at all.

I would not think it's normal, but I understand what you mean. I don't believe you are saying that you actively want to do this, just that the thoughts occur. This does not occur very frequently in most people, but it does not mean you are a bad person or that you will act upon them. You could call them involuntary in a sense. Everybody does have them to some degree. I'd say it's sort of like...your subconscious exploring possibilities. Possibilities rather than things you should do. I myself have thoughts like these, like I could such and such and nobody would know, but not actually seeing any reason to do any such actions. Sometimes these thoughts can be distressing to people who have them, and they are called "intrusive thoughts" I do believe. If you are regularly troubled by them, I could suggest talking to a professional about it. Again, it isn't necessarily indicitive that you're a bad person, but if it causes you distress, that is a problem.

Thoughts like these are common in those with mental illness, from generalized anxiety disorder to depression to the more intense and stigmatized ones.

If I'm reading this right, it isn't normal, but it's not your fault either. I get the impression this is something and someone you care for, and these are unwanted thoughts.

These types of thoughts are what often fall under the umbrella of "intrusive thoughts", and are experienced not due to a desire to do harm but due to your brain constantly being confused over whether it is in danger or needs to fight those near them.

I'd recommend seeing a therapist, and talking it over. You aren't crazy, and unless you are actually wanting to do these things then your aren't at fault. Sorry to hear you're having to experience this.
