You cannot see the 100000+ users on here, so does that mean they do not exist?
You have never seen the bottom, the real bottom of the ocean, does that not exist?
If you have not witnessed murder, rape, mutilation, etc, does that mean they too do not exist?
I see what you mean, and quite honestly being cautious of what people tell you has happened that you yourself have not witnessed is good, but not to the level you are putting it at, I believe.
Yes, nothing that I haven't experienced to a satisfactory level does NOT exist. Why would I even care if it existed if it didn't pertain to me at all anyway?
I've never even seen the whole ocean, so why contemplate if it has a super deep bottom if I don't even know that the ocean is what it's rumored to be? I'd be believing something (the ocean has a deep bottom) based on a "fact" (that the ocean is what it's claimed to be) I just accepted but didn't *know* to be true. That would be like conjuring up a mental image of a wrapped future Christmas present of yours and 'knowing' whatever was in the square, wrapped box was definitely circular and made of titanium yet having no actual evidence to base that assertion on, plus the gift doesn't even really exist at this point in time, and who knows if you'll even be alive at Christmas. Completely pointless! Anyway....if I'm not physically AT the ocean, it doesn't exist at that point in time anyway. The ocean appears before me as I approach it, why would I believe it remains there after I leave? It doesn't, as far as I'm concerned.
Just like when I part company with a person, I can make no assumptions about their state of health or life. Have you ever known anyone to die, but not found out for a time after? So, for some time, you believed (or assumed) a dead person was actually alive. You were wrong, you made the mistake of assuming someone existed that no longer did. Apply that to everything else that's supposedly in this world, and there you have it. That's my explanation.
I've concluded I don't believe in anything much at all. IIN?
