I've become extremely scared of spiders!

When I was younger, I thought spiders were awesome. I actually thought them cute. But some months ago, I re-watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and got deadly scared when it came to the Acromantula scene. I think I've developed arachnophobia just from watching Harry Potter! I read on the Internet that you can get that phobia from watching people being afraid of spiders. I'm just wondering, since you get the phobia from watching people being afraid, can you also get it from watching people ACT afraid on a film?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Normal. My fear of spiders started when I found a big spider in my basement when I was little. Usually phobias come from a scarring experience or it's just some irrational fear.

  • It's normal to be scared of big ******** spiders, but you shouldn't be afraid of normal 'house' spiders, they are only looking for a mate, and not the type of mate you would take for a beer
