They aren't smart enough to understand you, so they think you're the one who's stupid, or they just ignore you because they think you're making things up. Then, when your predictions come true, they don't recall what you told them and blame you for the situation.
Oh my goodness, I know this pain. I don't think it's because people are stupid, but more like they underestimate the person they're talking to for various reasons depending on appearance, age, sex, or nationality.
What really pisses me off more than anything is when people ask for my advice (as in they seek me out!!) and purposely ignore it; then when bad shit happens, they come back to complain and ask for more advice! It got to a point I just sarcastically reply and have them work out the solution for themselves while talking to me:
Guy: I'm going to curse out our boss tomorrow! You think it's a good idea? How should I do it?
Me: If you can live off unemployment checks, I say go for it.
Guy: Uhhh.... maybe I should rethink this.
Me: Oh whaaaaat?! You were so hyped tho!
But your just a genius I'm sure.
