I told my frind i love her and she didnt say it back

So I have an internet mate of 4 years and she lives in another country. I'm 26f and shes 25.
I hardly ever say the L word anymore as I feel like it's a big thing to say and I only say it to those I feel close to but i realised orther day i hardly ever ever say it. I was heart broken once by my ex close friend i had strong feelings for her so maybe that's why. None the less i had a moment in chat to say luv ya, take care xx
Later she comes online telling me she fell asleep and just said yeah it's scary what's happening in the world as I had also sent her a long message re cv19 stuff so she basically ignored the L word.
I didnt mean it like I'm in love with her I'm sure she knowws that so not sure what she thinks of me saying this?

well it's possible she ignored the L word or just wasn't feeling like saying it back. I mean, she isn't obliged to, and maybe that isn't her style - maybe she just left it on you, in a "oh ok" kind of way, but didn't feel she necessarily had to say it back.

it's possible she took the "luv ya" as a more friendly convivial way, the way some dudes say "love you bro", but they don't mean it as in deep endearment/close bond kind of way.

You could always ask her. But maybe that's a bit awkward at this point. What if you kept signing messages in that way and see if she caught drift?

its pretty normal to tell ur friends that u love them, if they don't respond (directly to the Love word) it might just be because its normal to them and they didn't really notice

“Luv”? I wouldn’t respond to that either.

"Luv ya" exists apparently down under as it does up yonder. It it a way to tell someone you care about them but is not as extreme as , "i love you."

Stick with the casual version until youre actually in a serious relationship.

Was that exactly what you said? "Luv take care xx"

I wouldn't have thought much of that to be honest. It's not the same as saying "i love you". "Luv take care" just sounds like something you might say to a nice cashier at the shop, or your auntie when you're saying bye to her. If you had actually said "i love you" and she ignored it then I could understand you feeling hurt.

Hmmm... to be honest that sounds really casual and low-key to me. Some people say that to almost everyone they know. I would probably think nothing of that. It's like a nice way of saying bye to someone.
