I think we live boring times

I always liked History and reading about it, and I always wondered what the kids in the future would read about the present age. I always felt it would be some pretty boring classes with only a few pages, alot of it about terrorism and the economic crysis, I would assume. I don't know if it's because I'm living it day by day, but so far the 21th century is not all that interesting for me. No great revolutions, no major wars, no great feats, etc. What do you think?

History is the compressed bits of the most interesting news. Of course it's going to seem more interesting. They leave out the rubbish bits.

But to suggest we live in boring times? Yesterday, a new country sprang into existence. How amazing is that?

Try farming the land for a lifetime without knowing how to read or write. No tv, no pc, no internet, no radio. Yeah, those where interesting times, sure

Besides, you can do that now to if you wanted to...

US is in three wars. Europe is rioting over the economy. Genocide in Syria. Organ trafficking in kosovo. The Watson computer. The information age. Phelps win 8 gold medals. Lady Gaga's the new Madonna. First black president. Oil spill in the gulf. Genome Project.

    Do you watch the news?

No revolutions? What about Egypt and Libya? No wars? What about Iraq and Afghanistan? And those are just America's wars. War, genocide, natural disasters, riots, and revolutions. These are all going on right now. And we even have the internet, unlike people in history.

  • OP is an idiot. Boring times? We live in the worst of times!

  • I think you're ugly.
If you wanna see war - go to Iraq, Afganistan.
If you wanna see revolution, look at Libya.
If that's bad history, tell that it's good history.

    I agree
I feel like things will be better in the future and they were worst in the path
2014 was the most boring year I've had

I have to agree with the OP.
Everything's been done before, these wars aren't in comparison to others (necessity-wise, not scale) and technology's at a standstill.
    I'm ready for something new.

I don't believe it's boring or worse or better, just different. We have more or less war, more or less disease, more medicine, more technology, more or less crime, more or less freedom, etc. It's all about perspective.

  • A lot of you completely missed the point. I'm not saying those times were "interesting" because there was poverty and wars, I'm saying it's much more interesting to read about. Please don't get all sentimental on me.
