In terms of recorded sound, you're right. If you are "born in this generation" for music you might as well have been born in *every* generation for music all at once, because you've got access to whatever you want.
I'm not sure recorded sound is all music is, though. Music has the power to connect people culturally. Music is the aural representation of specific times and places, converted into emotional energy. I think when people say they miss older music, they mean the culture surrounding the music. They miss live shows of bands that not longer exist, watching their scene as it expands and unfolds before their eyes. Recorded sound is the attempted reduction of all that cultural energy into a simple audio file. No wonder some people miss being there for real.
