I think that video games are better than real life.

I think that video games are better than real life.

So, what to do you think?

A few details about me: I'm 18 years old male, and I mostly prefer Jrpgs. It's not that it's the only think I do and enjoy, but I feel that video games make my life worth living. Real life is bland and boring.

I think the same way, and I'm happy. 40
I think the same way, but I know it's wrong. 23
It's okay, but I don't agree with you. 9
You are wrong, real life is better. 4
You are wrong, and I hate you for that. 2

Life: the graphics are great but the storyline sucks.

In all seriousness though, I think this is normal. Maybe you're just lacking excitement in your life. Try finding a princess and go on an adventure.

Real life doesn't offer good adventures though. And lets be honest, most of us wouldn't have the skills or be able to survive the things we do in video games.

You mean I would die trying to punch an entire city of people to death?

        Damn.

Well at least not the modern games like Black Ops or Bioshock. But I think Mario or perhaps portal could be realistically achieved. Still you could go haunted house exploring or go on a hike, both of those could offer some unsuspecting challenges.

As someone who used to write games, I should be pleased. However, I'd say that life is the best game of all. It's unrestricted and open-ended. The only thing it requires to be interesting is effort.

Well, these are some advantages of real life.

      But...
      No continues!?
The plot is almost always monotonous and just bad.
Starting conditions are rarely perfect and you can't choose them (talk about the effort with someone from, for example, Zimbabwe or North Korea).
You're never the main hero, unless very lucky, you're usually given the role of npc.
There is no magic, time travel, space exploration has only begun, real people are more imperfect.

Fiction of all kinds gives us what we can't experience in reality. But only video games are interactive, and it makes them more immersive. They are the ultimate media for storytelling. Of course, it's fun to go to the university, to meet with friends, to travel etc... but I'd rather imagine I'm a legendary hero destined to save the world :)

You know what? Much as I want to argue the case for life, I'm with you on this. Without video games I'd never have driven a car, piloted a spacecraft, met aliens, fought monsters, or been turned into a boiled egg. And that's only a thousandth of the stuff I've got up to. :)

I kind of live my life as a video game. A big one with a limited number of second chances, and no restarts. But when I get my big break, All of that will stay tha same.
