Most people don’t “let it” happen to them. It’s a backwards way of thinking to blame victims for incidents rather than the perpetrators themselves, very similar to those who blame rape victims for “allowing themselves” to be raped by someone. Why would anyone WANT to be scammed? Sometimes scams ARE obvious, but the most you should be is disappointed or mildly annoyed at the victim for falling for something like that. I still wouldn’t want that happening to anybody.
