In my town I've known Italian people who tanned and pretended to be Puerto Rican. I've also known Puerto Rican people who were trying to get as pale as possible and pretend they're one of the white races.

They'll present themselves as the race they wish to be with new people they meet, but then act all surprised when the new people abandon them after seeing their family and finding out the truth.

I don't get what's so bad about sticking to the way you were born. Why change your appearance and lie to people? It makes no sense.

      There was a 100% white girl in my secondary school who claimed to be Arabic because she used to live in Dubai. There’s being white passing and then there’s just lying.

        To be fair, most of Dubai consist of non-arabic immigrants, so it's easily the least arabic place in the middle-east, after Israel.

      The people that pretend they're Japanese are ridiculous. I've seen whites, blacks, and hispanics, who did that shit and honestly, they're weren't fooling anyone. XD

      When people lie about their nationality, it makes me wonder why they hate themselves so much and why they even thought it was ok to try to lie to others in the first place.

    My grandfather had black hair and would tan very easily so when he lived in Venezuela tourists would complement him on how good his English and accent were. He was British but didn’t correct them as he thought it was funny.

    Deliberately lying about your descent though is stupid and reeks of insecurity.

    I think that maybe finding out about their reasons if they'll tell you may shed some light on the subject. I'm sure some people may have reasons that make sense to improve life or safety and others maybe are more eccentric

      Transethnic is for orphans or children adopted by adults of a different face. The children become officially ftom that country.
