Yeah death should be a punishment, but not for some of the things you've listed. If someone beats their partner/child it's not worthy of death I think.
So is animal abuse. There are some crimes that are bad. Then there are ones that are REALLY bad. Some are so abhorrent that capital punishment seems like the easy way out. Still it gives solice to the victims and give added trust to the institution of law. Dont want people hiring assassins to kill prisoners eh?
