I think modern society is too oversexed

I think certain industries rely on sex too much to sell products (the music industry, for example), but in my every day life - aside from when I'm having sex or watching porn - I don't come across sexual content that frequently. From my experience, the amount of it in the media is pretty much equal to the amount we think and care about sex, which I wouldn't say is to an unhealthy degree.

Actually, the USA is far less of a sexual country than any number of countries in Europe. And if you look back at different civilizations in history, you'll find that everyday life now is MUCH less sexual.

I think there is so much emphasis on it because it has been repressed. If people were less prudish it wouldn't be as big of a deal

I live in the south of Europe were sex sometimes seems more important than food.
One big difference from other places as far as I understand. Most people talk very little about, they do it instead of, mainly in Catholic countries like Italy, France, Portugal or Spain sex means a lot.

It's a normal view, though I don't necessarily agree with all of it. Sex jokes are just bad comedy. The greatest comedians don't rely on them. So your view on that front is fine. But the overarching view of oversexualization is myopic IMO. People have always had constant sexual pressures and urges, the major difference in the times is the artistic expressions of these. The increased acceptance of sex in the public sphere has had a positive effect on our society, allowing people with different sexualities and sexual preferences to express themselves more fully and with less prejudice. Also, being more frank about sexuality allows youngsters to get better information about sex, ultimately keeping them safer. So while it can get a little old and boring sometimes, there are benefits that outweigh that. And it's always better to be able to talk openly rather than be repressed about one's opinions.

I think you are way off base, if the posts on here are to be believed.
It seems there are an amazing number of people on here who are completely asexual, homosexual, completely confused about their sexuality and completely unable to even speak with the opposite sex. If this is an accurate cross section of society today, I do not believe that the human race will survive.
A far cry from a society that puts "WAY too much emphasis on sex".
