I think laziness is really a fear of failure

There are a couple different kinds of laziness. There's the I'll watch this show I'm not crazy about because the remote is 10 feet away. Also there is the I won't look for a better job or a job in general slash try to get a better education

I totally agree 14
I don't agree at all 7
I somewhat agree but think its more complicated 49

  • I'm lazy because I'm lazy... My fear of failure actually drives me to do shit.

That is not lazy. One is lazy and one is curious. People who choose not to pursue something since they think they will fail are not LAZY. People that eat and eat till they weigh as much as an elephant are lazy and disgusting.

Sometimes. I know a lot of people who don't try at school and don't give two shits about their grades. It isn't because they don't think it's important, or because they're just lazy, it's because they're scared of failing, and if you don't try, you have that as an excuse for failing. If you try and fail, you have to except that you're not as good as you thought you were.

Point being, it makes sense (at least to me) that laziness comes from fear of failing and a low self-esteem. Other times, I don't like doing work around the house because it's mind-numbing and I have more entertaining and more useful things to do with my life. I'm not scared that I'll fail at working! So it works both ways.

I agree and disagree because I'm going to nit-pick. I think (what looks like) laziness can often be a fear of failure. But it isn't actually laziness, it's just a fear of failure which looks like laziness.

People hold many naive notions like this.

"The Pen is mightier than the Sword"

    "Actions speak louder than words"

    ^Derp.

But no, I didn't wash my clothes today because I was afraid of the Cleaner Monster. I didn't do it because I really wanted to play Skyrim.

I didn't clarify in the op I am referring to the type of laziness that prevents u from bettering your life not the type that prevents your apartment from being immaculately clean how is this a naive notion exactly behavioral acclimation is a good insight though thank you shackleford and nobleserpent your a deutsch because you play a video game that requires such a large investment of your time

        *you're

What makes you think I'm German?

Anyway, Skyrim is awesome; I don't care if it takes up too much of my time. Shadow Warrior is so gravy :)

Oh yeah and actions without a doubt do speak louder than words only an ignorant person would disagree with a statement that holds as much truth as that

Well I'll give you the Benefit of the Doubt and assume you misunderstood me.

My point was to say that those two Phrases are accepted in society yet both contradict one another. It wasn't to say that both of them were wrong.
