It's normal, but unfortunately, there is no remedy for it.
My "first love" turned out to be gay. I loved him so much that I still did all the girlfriend things with him as friends. I only ended up hurting myself, and he ended up hating me in the end, every now and then I stalk his facebook or myspace, look through his pictures and have a little cry in the shower. and this was 5 years ago.
"getting over it" isn't as important as you'd think. What is important is excepting whatever it is that you feel. Once you except it you'll be able to let some of it go.
