I think being shallow is normal

I've noticed a trends, most often among intellectuals, liberals, environmentalists or simply ugly people who try to dumb down people they consider shallow.
As an ugly intellectual I feel like everytime I voice a desire to be rich and date pretty girls they frown and wonder how an intelligent guy can't see beyond beauty or why am I so consumerist etc and it pisses me off. Why in the world can't I also desire what's best for me, provides me the most pleasure etc? It's a peer pressure from intellectuals that you are supposed to dress ugly, date ugly girls, be poor, hate capitalism, be an environmentalist and consume less. I say fuck you to those people. Let me live.

If it makes you happy, then be shallow. I personally think being shallow is often a mask people wear because they don't know what truly makes them happy.

    • I do know what makes me happy. It is those very things some folks call shallow. It's not getting it that makes me sad.

No. Being shallow is a horrible thing. It's what inside that counts, not what's on the outside. It's things like this that make the world a badder place to live in. -_-

    • What IS inner beauty anyway? I see it as a weakness. Sorry if that's rude.

        • Anybody can date a kind girl. It's not an achievement. Anybody can choose to be kind also, so again it's no big deal. I still prefer money and cute girls.

You're still being shallow. Please don't take that personally because i don't want to start anything with anyone. I'm just saying that people should look at the interior of a person, not the exterior.

            • Well I never denied being shallow. My whole point is that I support it.

Bah, I want inner and outer beauty. Why should the two concepts be mutually exclusive? Going with someone who is my equal is a turn on for me. I'm not trying to go out of my league per se and I sure ain't looking to go slumming when it comes to looks either. Birds of a feather flock together.

I fully support being shallow. Just know that it goes both ways, so you might want to work on being more attractive...or rich.

I don't support being shallow. I'd perfer it if people were more accepting of people for who they are on the inside, not what they are on the outside.

Only extremenly ugly people say they wish people would accept others for what they are on the "inside."

A person's appearance doesn't make me think less of him or her, but when it comes to finding a mate, physical attraction is necessary.

*sighs* I give up. Fine. It's okay you think that way. I'm done talking about the matter.

      • That's called wishful thinking. I personally would prefer if nobody was ugly, in their own interest.

Yes, to a certain extent. I cannot lie, it is lust at first sight for me. I will then get to know the girl and see if I like her personality. I started to talk to my girl initially because she is very beautiful and then found out that she is a humble girl.

Face it: if you have a different ideology from someone, they'll likely think you're dumb. Period. People look down on each other for things like that and often find ways to rationalize it so they can be blatantly hateful about it. Even many who claim to be open minded will give you hell if you're not open minded in a way that suits them.

Personally, I'd love to have unlimited financial security (or in other words, be rich).

I think everyone is shallow until they find their true love. Then they realize that it's not all about looks.

I get where your coming from. Frankly, I don't see the difference if a guy says that he only cares about brains or he only cares about boobs. Everyone is shallow or they at least have standards, I just think it's a sort of inherent for people to be a little upset by the success of others.
