Do you want an example of a unique culture aspect of the U.S? The hippie movement started in the US and spread outward to other nations. It is still strong today but has evolved into something much different than what it was in the 60's.
Culture is organic, it can be defined as a set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and traditions that characterizes a group. Or the distinct ways that people living in different parts of the world classified and represented their experiences, and acted creatively.
Every culture has borrowed from others. We take what we value and adapt it to our own personal lifestyle thus creating the society we participate in. America is unique in that it borrows from a wider variety of influences. No culture is free from outside influences in our global society. Americans have more freedom and opportunity to mix and mingle different ways of being than many other societies. This does not always turn out well and exploitation and ignorance plague many aspects of our society, not to mention greed. But we are unique, we have culture, and there are many people who are willing to stand up (or sit down) and fight for these rights. The right to just fucking be ourselves, whatever our background.
How and why people find themselves on this continent only add to the existing culture as it continues to evolve into something much different than what it was 20 years ago.
I think American cluture sucks. Is it normal?
