I'm sure there was plenty of losers back then too, but history tends to only tell you about the good things. In a couple hundred years, what do you think will be officially recorded about us? And not just officially recorded but most popularly read subjects? Probably only the greatest achievements and the bottom of the barrel, the mid section will fall by the wayside, as usual. There's been horrible people, great minds, wonderful artists and everything inbetween throughout history but when you delve into the subject you tend to find exactly hat you're looking for-either the worst or the best-the in-betweeners don't tend to make history.
Also, do you really think all the artists back then were considered "geat" during their lifetimes?? NO!! Many were hated, persecuted and forced underground only to be thought of as great later on. Most artists/writers were desperately poor during their lifetimes yet after a hundred years or so were then celebrated as wonderful...
I think American cluture sucks. Is it normal?
