I think all children should be brought up in a commune.

  • I dont really agree with you. Abuse can happen with your idea too its not a fix for abuse. There are great parents out there not every family abuses their children. Yes it can happen but if you see or suspect abuse you should report it... being aware is the best solution.
really the best way to grow up is to have a primary caregiver and family support...thats your small group the family should help...watch the kids a few times a month to give parents a break. Your grandpa could be the one to teach you to fish, your dad teaches you about computers, your mom helps you with reading and math, and your grandma teaches you her best recipes...just as examples.

But I could never do your idea. I want my baby around me the most. I refused to get a babysitter or daycare until she could talk...because if something was wrong I wanted her to be able to voice it. Having some group of people split responsibility is actually a scary thought for me and it takes away some of my joy. I want to be the only one fixing her lunch before school...I want to be the one to read to her most nights....and so on.

    • Well you sound like you'd be a wonderful parent, or are already. But I feel most people aren't.
