Yes, it's normal. I did this with a guy I felt I really clicked with, yet moved away and lost contact with, for a long time. It just takes time, sometimes a little longer for some than others, but you'll eventually get past it.
I thought I read somewhere that it's common for crushes to last for up to two years. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it doesn't seem too far fetched to me.
I think about my crush everyday, even though I saw him almost a year ago.
